Astro-COLIBRI 2—An Advanced Platform for Real-Time Multi-Messenger Discoveries

Abstract: The study of flaring astrophysical events in the multi-messenger approach requires instantaneous follow-up observations to better understand the nature of these events through complementary observational data. We present Astro-COLIBRI as a platform that integrates specific tools in the real-time multi-messenger ecosystem. The Astro-COLIBRI platform bundles and evaluates alerts about transients from various channels. It further automates the coordination of follow-up observations by providing and linking detail… Show more

“…All the predictions obtained with our best-performing method-embedding ranking pipeline-are publicly available via search API [6] and GitHub repository [30]. Using this API, our functionality can be integrated with multi-messenger brokers and platforms, e.g., with Astro-COLIBRI [31,32], to provide complementary information for human-written messages. In the coming months, we are also planning to release the first version of the web application for searching and crossreferencing ATels and GCN circulars using the data extracted with our LLMs.…”

“…Astro-COLIBRI supports a wide range of astrophysical source classes, including Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), Gamma-ray Bursts (GRBs), Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), Gravitational Waves (GWs), High-energy Neutrinos, Optical Transients (OT), Supernovae (SN), and more. By incorporating multi-messenger services, catalogs, and alerts from We here present an overview of the main features of the Astro-COLIBRI platform, focussing on recent additions and use-cases that exceed the description given in [8,9].…”

“…In the interpretation of quasi-periodic oscillations due to jet precession induced by a SMBBH system, [10] built a precession model to explain the recurrent neutrino emission in TXS 0506+056 observed by the Antarctic IceCube Neutrino Observatory [16,17]. They connected for the first time the possible neutrino and gravitational-wave signatures of such sources, demonstrating the need for continued multi-messenger monitoring [29]. This precession model predicted a new neutrino emission period that turned out to be consistent with the 18/09/2022 neutrino observation by IceCube and relied on the jet precession first reported by [8] for this source.…”
