“…For example, other studies of asthma control and asthma functional status have shown that concordance between objective and judgment-based assessments is often poor and might even worsen in patients receiving higher step-based therapy. [25][26][27][28] Asthma severity determination is also discordant between physicians in both primary care 29 and specialist 30 settings. Objective measures, such as ASSESS, have potential to mitigate the increasing costs of asthma severity in both the United States 31,32 and elsewhere 33,34 through comprehensive assessment of treatment responses and, ultimately, elimination of unnecessary treatment in patients who do not benefit.…”

“…An Italian Respiratory Society survey showed that despite uncontrolled asthma, treatment was stepped up by specialists in only 37.2% of the cases; asthma control questionnaires were only used in 65% of patients. 20 In an attempt to explain the observed under-management in our study, we can mention OCS addiction, fears of biologics/shots, insufficient awareness, uncontrolled or poorly understood comorbidities, age or poor adherence including active smoking or non-removal of a clear triggering factor (cats are typical in this area). Of note, anti -IL-4/IL-13 therapy, which is not market-approved at this time in France, corresponds to the vast majority of indications for biologics in “under-treated” patients.…”

“…The study recommended using decision support tools’ interventions which is defined as health information technology and/or paper-based interventions designed to support/facilitate healthcare provider decision-making, feedback, and audit interventions providing performance data to healthcare providers about their quality of care, and clinical pharmacy support interventions target pharmacists’ delivery of care. In spite of many challenges reported by investigators[ 29 30 31 32 33 ] for using and application of the guidelines such as lack of knowledge and need for further training to manage and prevent asthma, there is a noticeable positive attitude toward applying the guidelines and using it to promote asthma management and control.…”
