Associations between spherical particles of two dissimilar phases

Abstract: An analysis is presented to assess the relationships between particles distributed throughout a medium. The adopted approach is to compare the observed data-with the expected associations between particles calculated on the basis of random positioning. Since bulk structures are often examined by using a sectioning technique, the paper includes a method to transform two-dimensional observations into three-dimensional associations. This is achieved by assuming that the most complex association observed is the mo… Show more

“…All the results being discussed before suggest that the PSN had played an important role in the microstructure evolution during the GBE-process of the Hastelloy N. Therefore, the standard specimen, which have more primary carbide particles, would be affected more seriously by PSN. In the meantime, the nucleation occurs preferentially where the particles are clustering [32,34]. This will also result in the fact that the standard specimens are influenced more pronouncedly by PSN.…”

“…Data taken from these models is plotted in In general, the pinning of sub-grain and high-angle grain boundaries 120,121 have been shown to occur when the particle radius, r, is the size range 30-800nm, and particle volume fraction (f) less than 0.01.To date no zirconium or zirconium -vanadium steels have been used to test any of these models. While data for R c and to some extent r are available for zirconium and zirconium -vanadium steels, no reliable data on volume fraction of precipitates in these steels has been published.…”

“…With the decrease in the particle size and spacing between particles, recrystallization kinetics is retarded, but final grain size becomes quite large [37,40]. Several researchers have studied the relationship between dispersion characteristics, deformation substructure, and recrystallization [41][42][43]. Figure 6.…”
