Objective. To study the concentrations of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and c-erbB-2 oncogene protein product P185 in different pathological stages of breast cancer and to analyze their combined clinical diagnosis of breast cancer significance. Methods. 67 breast cancer patients who were treated in our hospital from January 2018 to September 2020 were set as the breast cancer group and were divided into stages I, II, III, and IV according to clinicopathology. In addition, 55 patients with benign breasts who were admitted to the hospital at the same time were selected as the benign breast group, and 60 healthy people in our hospital during the same period were selected as the healthy group. The differences between serum TNF-α, TSH, and p185 protein positive rate in 3 groups and the levels of TNF-α and TSH and p185 protein positive rate in patients with different pathological characteristics were compared and analyzed, and the differences between the combined detection and the single detection were analyzed. Results. Compared with the benign breast group and the healthy group, the serum levels of TNF-α ( 44.61 ± 12.54 versus 29.75 ± 10.19 versus 56.87 ± 15.36 versus 102.37 ± 15.36 ), TSH ( 0.98 ± 0.13 versus 0.94 ± 0.17 versus 1.17 ± 0.24 versus 1.22 ± 0.15 ) and p185 protein positive rate were higher in the I-II and III-IV groups, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). TNF-α detection sensitivity was 44.74%, specificity was 62.06%, which was higher than p185 sensitivity of 31.01%, specificity of 49.78%, higher than TSH sensitivity of 27.51%, specificity of 39.77%. At the same time, the sensitivity and specificity of combined detection of TNF-α, TSH, and p185 protein were 67.35% and 70.41%, which were significantly higher than the sensitivity and specificity of single detection, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. TNF-α, TSH, and p185 protein are expected to be used as auxiliary basis for diagnosis in the future. But in general, the serum indexes in this study had low sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of breast cancer, which limited their diagnostic function in clinical use.

BACKGROUND: The role of -251A>T polymorphism in the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-8 (IL-8) gene in gastric cancer was intensively evaluated, but the results of these studies were inconsistent. OBJECTIVE: Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to provide a comprehensive data on the association of IL-8 -251T>A polymorphism with gastric cancer. METHODS: All eligible studies were identified in PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Wanfang and CNKI databases before September 01, 2019. The pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were derived from a fixed effect or random effect model. RESULTS: A total of 33 case-control studies with 6,192 cases and 9,567 controls were selected. Overall, pooled data showed that IL-8 -251T>A polymorphism was significantly associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer under all five genetic models, i.e., allele (A vs T: OR=1.189, 95% CI 1.027-1.378, P=0.021), homozygote (AA vs TT: OR=1.307, 95% CI 1.111-1.536, P=0.001), heterozygote (AT vs TT: OR=1.188, 95% CI 1.061-1.330, P=0.003), dominant (AA+AT vs TT: OR=1.337, 95% CI 1.115-1.602, P=0.002) and recessive (AA vs AT+TT: OR=1.241, 95% CI 1.045-1.474, P=0.014). The stratified analysis by ethnicity revealed an increased risk of gastric cancer in Asians and mixed populations, but not in Caucasians. Moreover, stratified by country found a significant association in Chinese, Korean and Brazilian, but not among Japanese. CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis suggests that the IL-8 -251T>A polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer, especially by ethnicity (Asian and mixed populations) and country (Chinese, Korean and Brazilian).

Background CASC21 was reported to be a hotspot gene in cervical cancer. The relationship between CASC21 genetic polymorphisms and cervical cancer has not been reported. Genetic factors influence the occurrence of cervical cancer. Thus, we explored the correlation between CASC21 polymorphisms and cervical cancer. Methods A total of 973 participants within 494 cervical cancer cases and 479 healthy controls were recruited. Five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CASC21 gene were genotyped using the Agena MassARRAY platform. Chi-squared test, logistic regression analysis, odds ratio (OR), multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR), and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were used for data analysis. Results In the overall analysis, rs16902094 ( p = .014, OR = 1.86, 95% CI = 1.12–3.08) and rs16902104 ( p = .014, OR = 1.86, 95% CI = 1.12–3.09) had the risk-increasing correlation with the occurrence of cervical cancer. Stratification analysis showed that rs16902094 and rs16902104 were still associated with cervical cancer risk in the subgroups with age > 51, BMI < 24 kg/m 2 , smokers, and patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma. MDR analysis displayed that rs16902094 (.49%) and rs16902104 (.52%) were the main influential attribution factor for cervical cancer risk. Conclusion Our finding firstly determined that two CASC21 SNPs (rs16902094, rs16902104) were associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer, which adds to our knowledge regarding the effect of CASC21 on cervical carcinogenesis.
