Association of TAP and HLA-DM Genes with Psoriasis in Koreans

Abstract: To investigate the possible involvement of antigen-processing genes in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, we analyzed the polymorphisms of the TAP1, TAP2, LMP2, LMP7, DMA, and DMB genes in 98 Korean psoriasis patients and compared them with 184 healthy controls. The frequencies of TAP2*B/B [relative risk (RR)=3.6, p<0.0002] and TAP2*B (RR=1.7, p<0.05) were significantly increased, but TAP1*B (RR=0.3, p<0.002) and TAP2*A (RR=0.6, p<0.03) were significantly decreased, in the patients compared to the controls. We per… Show more

“…In psoriasis vulgaris, the G-allele of TAP2_665 has been found to be significantly more frequent than in controls in two of three studies, [7][8][9] and for TAP1_637, the A-allele was found more often in three of four studies. [8][9][10][11] LMP polymorphisms have only been investigated in two studies 8,10 with no significant results. Two small studies, one in HLA-B27-negative ankylosing spondylitis 12 and another in rheumatoid arthritis, 13 indicated that the Gallele in LMP_60 was more frequent in cases than in controls.…”

“…Several DM polymorphisms have been associated with predisposition to diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Juvenile RA, medicamentosa-like Dermatitis, Primary Antiphospholipid Syndrome, Psoriasis and atopic Dermatitis (Toussirot et al, 2000;West and Reed, 1999;Yue et al, 2007;Sanchez et al, 2004;Pyo et al, 2003;Kuwata et al, 1996). Additionally, DM polymorphisms may influence vaccine responses (Dhiman et al, 2003;Ovsyannikova et al, 2004).…”
