The paper discusses the results of a research on physicochemical and biochemical properties of the Keplerate-type molybdenum-based nanocluster polyoxometalates (POMs), which show promise in the field of biomedicine as a means of targeted drug delivery, including the transport to immune privileged organs. POMs can be considered as components of releasing systems, including the long-acting ones with feedback (for controlling the drug active component release rate). POMs are promising drugs for the treatment of anemia. Also, the paper deals with the results of studies of POM effect on living systems at the molecular and cellular levels, at that of individual organs, and on the organism as a whole. The mechanism and kinetics of POM destruction and possibilities of stabilization, the oscillatory phenomena manifestation, the formation of POM conjugates with bioactive substances which can be released during the destruction of POM, with polymer components, and with indicator fluorescent dyes, as well as forecasts for further research, are considered.

Создание и использование средств адресной доставки лекарств на основе нанокластерного полиоксометаллата {MoFe} подразумевает его деструкцию в организме, сопровождающуюся постепенным высвобождением лекарства. Были определены константы скорости процесса деструкции чистого {MoFe} и в составе ассоциата с сывороточным альбумином в растворах моделирующих среду крови (фосфатный буфер с pH 7,4 и сыворотка крови крупного рогатого скота). Показана стабилизация полиоксометаллата альбумином в модельных средах. Определено соотношение компонентов в ассоциате {MoFe} -альбумин, оно составило 1,6 ионов полиоксометаллата на молекулу альбумина. The creation and use of the targeted drug delivery systems based on nanocluster polyoxometalate {MoFe} implies its destruction in the body, accompanied by the gradual release of the drug. The rate constants of the destruction of pure {MoFe} and its associate with serum albumin in solutions simulating the blood media (phosphate buffer with pH 7,4 and blood serum of cattle) were determined. The stabilization of polyoxometalate by albumin in model solutions was shown. The ratio of components in the associate {MoFe} -albumin was determined, it was 1,6 polyoxometalate ions per albumin molecule.

This article studies the binding of the antitumor drug doxorubicin (DOX) with the nanocluster polyoxometalate (POM) {Mo 72 Fe 30 }, the latter serving as the drug carrier. The formation of a stoichiometric complex POM@(DOX) 12 was observed in aqueous media. Using the Stern-Volmer technique, we found the binding constant and free Gibbs energy for this interaction. The produced complex POM@(DOX) 12 was examined with ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), fluorescence (steady state and life-time), infrared (IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectro-scopy (XPS), which revealed the stoichiometry of complex and a key role of {Mo 3 Fe 3 } host pores on the POM surface to DOX binding. DOX's ability to intercalate into DNA after binding with the {Mo 72 Fe 30 } was investigated using a pH typical for blood (7.4). A pH-dependent release of DOX from POM@-(DOX) 12 was demonstrated (rate constant is 3.3 × 10 À 4 s À 1 ). Finally, we showed that the immobilization of doxorubicin on the POM's surface can reduce undesired side effects.
