“…Whereas, in the latter study SNP41 and 56 were found to be associated with IS and its subtypes intracranial large artery, lacunar and cardioembolic stroke. This study also reported a novel SNP at position 59736747 T>G, however, analysis for this SNP did not report any significant association with IS [30,13]. Kalita et al (2011) on the other hand studied SNP32, 83 and 87 among North Indians and found frequency of CC genotype of SNP83 to be significantly more among IS patients.…”

“…Among Russians Avdonina et al (2012) evaluated association for 10 SNPs in different genes including PDE4D but could not establish any significant difference between patients and controls for any of the genes [29]. Our group evaluated the association of SNPs 32, 83, 87, 41 and 56 with IS and its subtypes in a South Indian population from Andhra Pradesh (Munshi et al 2009(Munshi et al , 2012. In the former study SNP83 was found to be associated with IS and its subtype intracranial large artery, extracranial large artery and lacunar stroke.…”

“…However SNPs 37 and 87 were found to be monomorphic in our population. [45,46] Another study by Banerjee et al from India have also confirmed the association of SNP83 with ischemic stroke. A study from North India also found an association of SNP83 and SNP87 with ischemic stroke and extracranial large artery atherosclerosis respectively.…”

“…Lövkvist et al (9) performed a multi-center study involving a large sample of 2,599 patients with ischemic stroke and 2,093 control subjects from the south and west regions of Sweden and did not identify any correlation between the examined subgroups and SNP45 with ischemic stroke. Munshi et al (21) demonstrated a significant correlation of SNP56 and SNP41 with large artery atherosclerosis, and lacunar and cardioembolic stroke in the South Indian population from Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, Matsushita et al (10) studied 5 SNPs in the Japanese population; however, no correlation was revealed between PDE4D gene polymorphisms and ischemic stroke.…”
