Association of LRRK2 R1628P variant with Parkinson’s disease in Ethnic Han-Chinese and subgroup population

Abstract: Recent studies have linked certain single nucleotide polymorphisms in the leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) gene with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The R1628P variant of LRRK2 may be a specific risk factor for PD in ethnic Han-Chinese populations. This study is to elucidate the epidemiological feature of R1628P in ethnic Han-Chinese population with PD. A comprehensive meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the precise association between R1628P variant and the risk for PD in ethnic Han-Chinese and subgroups st… Show more

“…Previous studies of ethnicity-specific LRRK2 variation have focused primarily on the common variants G2019S, G2385R, and R1628P (Xie et al, 2014; Liu et al, 2016; Zhang et al, 2016; Zhao and Kong, 2016), showing that G2019S was more common in European and North American populations while G2385R and R1628P existed only in Asian populations (Guo et al, 2006). Our study replicated these results, and further demonstrated the importance of other variants, such as P755L, A419V, and R1398H.…”

“…To date, nearly a hundred LRRK2 variants have been identified. Of these, G2019S, R1628P, and G2385R have traditionally received much of the attention, and there have already been a number of meta-analyses on the role of these variants in PD risk in people of different ethnicities (Xie et al, 2014; Liu et al, 2016; Zhang et al, 2016; Zhao and Kong, 2016). These variants each possess distinct geographical distributions.…”

“…5(a-d) shows all four plots at high magnetic fields (0H = 2 -3 T) and with a step size T = 0.25 K from 220 K -235 K. The plots show series of quasi-parallel lines with slope given by S(T) = dM 1/β / d(H/M) 1/γ . We adopt the approach used in [33] to determine an appropriate model for the system by calculating the normalized slope (NS).…”

“…[ 31 ] The internalization of glutathione (GSH) is also facilitated by the thiol‐disulfide exchange in various cancer cells. [ 32 ] We envisioned that the enhancement of cell penetrating activity of SAP(E)‐7C might be due to the similar cysteine‐based mechanism, although the enhancement effect is not so dramatic.…”
