Association of intra‐tumoral tumour‐infiltrating lymphocytes and neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio is an independent prognostic factor in non‐small cell lung cancer

Abstract: This study is first report demonstrating the prognostic value of intra-tumoral low CD5 with NSCLC. Increased CD3 and low CD5 was observed in patients with poor prognosis; the two molecules were correlated with NLR, suggesting that inflammation might be used as improve therapeutic efficacy to immunotherapy for advanced NSCLC.

“…Previous studies have reported an association between inflammatory parameters and local immune response. [23][24][25] In patients with non-small-cell lung cancer, a high NLR was negatively correlated with intratumoural CD3 + TILs. 23 However, in patients with laryngeal SCC, the PLR and TIL density were prognostic factors for systemic and local inflammation, but there were no significant correlations between NLR or PLR, and TIL density.…”

“…Further studies are needed to investigate the predictive role of NLR for brain metastases in NSCLC with or without EGFR mutation and the association between NLR and EGFR mutation. Second, there have been many previous studies evaluating the prognostic role of NLR in patients with NSCLC18194243. However, a well-established cutoff for NLR was not identified due to diverse study populations and various selection methods.…”

“…5 The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has recently been shown to predict overall and disease-specific mortality and chemotherapy response in cancer patients. 68 NLR is also shown to be associated with complexity of peripheral arterial disease, 9 systemic endothelial dysfunction, 10 and cardiovascular diseases. 11 No study has investigated the predicting value of NLR for wound healing outcome in diabetic foot ulcers.…”
