“…Moreover, associations between the TLR2 genetic diversity and Alzheimer's disease [61] or cognitive function in schizophrenia [62] are highly suggestive of genetically-driven inter-individual ability to modulate neuroinflammatory processes. Of importance is that the TLR2 rs3804099 polymorphism was showed on the one hand to be associated with several inflammatory and infectious diseases including pulmonary tuberculosis, neonatal infection, filariasis, ocular Behcet's disease and cancer [63][64][65][66][67] and to exert a functional impact on the inflammatory response on the other [65,68,69].…”

“…68 Eight SNPs in TLR2, TLR4, TLR8, and TLR9 were examined to test the association with BD, VKH syndrome, and AAU. 53 The results only showed association of genetic variants in TLR2 with BD. No association was observed with VKH syndrome and AAU, despite the fact that large patient samples were included in these studies.…”

“…In the two-stage control-association study performed by Fang and colleagues [186], an association between ocular BD and TLR2 SNPs (rs2289318 and rs3804099) was observed in a Han Chinese population, although these two SNPs did not exert any effect on the release of TNF-, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-1 No association was reported between BD and TLR2 SNP (rs13150331), TLR4 SNP (rs7037117), TLR8 SNP (rs3764880) and TLR9…”
