“…Over the last two decades, a number of molecular epidemiological studies have investigated the link between two polymorphisms, rs6983267 and rs1447295, in this region and analysis of association to GC susceptibility have revealed inconsistent results. Several studies suggest that the rs6983267 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of GC [ 12 , 13 ], while an inverse association was seen with rs1447295 polymorphisms [ 14 ]; however other studies have failed to confirm such associations [ 15 18 ].
