Abstract: Background: Hepatic encephalopathy is the primary cause of mortality in cases of liver cirrhosis. The Psychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score (PHES) is widely acknowledged as a gold standard for diagnosis of covert hepatic encephalopathy.
