Association between changes in air quality and hospital admissions during the holi festival

Abstract: In this paper we observe the association between changes in air quality and number of hospital admission during "holi-the festival of colours". Proposed research performed during holi festival, where playing colour are very common practice. Fine particle and its ion concentration were analyzed by air monitoring and ion chromatography. Reported concentration profile of fine particle were 25-40 μg m −3 , 54-171 μg m −3 , and 35-70 μg m −3 , for PM 2.5 and while for PM 10 , 53-251 μg m −3 , 92-291 μg m −3 , and 5… Show more

“…The pollution caused by the Holi celebration and hospital admission data were gathered in four sites and nine hospitals near the research region. There are empirical connections between particle concentrations caused by color festivals and hospital hospitalization (Gupta et al, 2019). According to this study, Holi causes air pollution, so hospital admissions rise during this period.…”

“…Air pollution is the presence of foreign matter (chemicals gases like NO 2 , SO 2 , and CO, particles like PM 2.5 , PM 10 , and dust, or biological molecules like viruses and bacteria’s) to the atmosphere or environment that can harm human health, animals, plants and other non-living things including water bodies and buildings.
