Introduction: The changes caused by menopause and the duration of this period in women's lives are of great scientific relevance, and achieving a better understanding of diseases such as diabetes prevalent in the climacteric and the risk factors associated with metabolic and cardiovascular diseases is essential. Objective:To determine the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in climacteric women, correlating socioeconomic and demographic variables.Method: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, performed in 14 Family Health Units (USF) in the urban area of the municipality of Cajazeiras/Paraíba, Brazil, with 396 women. Data were collected in interviews using a structured questionnaire, and the variables were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Results:There was prevalence of DM in 11.6% (n = 396) of the climacteric women, who had DM as a single disease or associated with other diseases. Regarding the sociodemographic profiles and lifestyles of the diabetic women, it became evident that the 46 participants were on average 52.1 years old; had 5.2 years of formal education and per capita income of 0.7 minimum wage; 43.5% were in paid employment; 65.2% had a fixed partner; 23.9% reported being smokers; 15.2% reported use of alcohol; 73.9% said they were sedentary and 76.1% were overweight/obese.

Introduction:Menopause is a phase in the female life cycle marked by the end of menstruation, which some women experience in a healthy way, while others experience symptoms that vary in their diversity and intensity. One pathology that is evident in climacteric is systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), mainly during the postmenopausal phase. SAH is characterized by high blood pressure levels, which can trigger diseases. Objective:To determine the prevalence of SAH and the intensity of symptoms in menopausal women in a city of Northeastern Brazil.Method: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study. Using a sample of 396 women between 40 and 60 years old, the study was performed at all family health units in the municipality of Cajazeiras-PB. The data were collected through structured interviews and were analyzed using the SPSS Statistics software package. Results:The average age of the women interviewed was 50 (±5.801).They had, on average, 7 (±4.733) years of study and per capita incomes of 0.5 (±0.6958) times the minimum wage. A total of 69.9% (n = 277) had a fixed companion, and 51.8% (n = 205) were white. The prevalence of SAH was 35.1%. SAH was associated with age [OR: 2.164 (95% CI 1.417-3.306)], activity in the home [OR: 1.686 (95% CI 1.103-2.576)], overweight/obesity [OR: 2.748 (95% CI 1.738-4.343)], menopause/post-menopause [OR: 2.180 (95% CI 1.432-3.321)] and heightened symptomatology [OR: 3.143 (95% CI 1.608-6.146)]. The menopausal symptoms that were more prevalent in hypertensive subjects were arthralgia (84.9%), nervousness (84.2%) and fatigue (81.3%).

Objetivo: Identificar a prevalência de osteoporose em mulheres na pós-menopausa que realizaram seus exames de Densitometria Mineral Óssea em clínica privada da cidade de Maringá (PR) nos anos de 2012 e 2013 e sua associação com fatores de risco. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo exploratório-descritivo transversal envolvendo 177 mulheres na pós-menopausa. Foram incluídas no estudo as pacientes que apresentaram osteoporose primária, com ou sem histerectomia e excluídas as voluntárias que apresentaram outras condições ou doenças associadas à alteração da massa óssea. As principais variáveis analisadas foram: raça; Índice de Massa Corporal; idades da menarca e da menopausa e tempo de menopausa. Resultados: A média de idade da amostra foi 59 anos com desvio padrão de ±7,97 anos. Em relação à classificação das pacientes de acordo com os resultados do exame de massa óssea, 23% pertenciam ao grupo normal, 65% apresentaram osteopenia e 12%, osteoporose. A análise estatística mostrou associação da idade avançada e do tempo de menopausa com a doença, mas não houve significância estatística em relação à análise para associação dos demais fatores de risco. Conclusões: O estudo realizado permite concluir que houve baixa prevalência de densitometria normal e alta prevalência de baixa massa óssea na população amostral. A idade e período de tempo de menopausa podem ser considerados como fatores de risco para osteoporose na amostra. The study included patients who presented primary osteoporosis, with or without hysterectomy and excluded volunteers who presented other conditions or diseases associated with altered bone mass. The main analyzed variables were: race; Body Mass Index; ages of menarche and menopause and menopause time. Results: The average age of the sample was 59 years old with a standard deviation of ±7.97 years. In relation to the classification of the patients according to the results of the examination of bone mass, 23% were in the normal group, 65% presented osteopenia and 12%, osteoporosis.
