Assessment of Weed Competition Critical Period in Sugar Beet

Abstract: Weed control constitutes the most essential issue in cropping systems. The critical periods should especially be determined for each crop. Field experiments were conducted during the seasonal growing periods of sugar beet in 2012 and 2013 in Kayseri, Turkey to assess the critical weed control period (CPWC). A log-logistic model having four parameters was used to assist in monitoring and analyzing two sets of related, relative crop yield. Data was obtained during the periods of increased weed interference and a… Show more

“…), significantly reducing the yield and quality of sugar beet. In addition to this primary damage, it can cause secondary damage by being an intermediate host to many fungal and viral diseases (Kadıoğlu et al, 1997, Üremiş andUygur, 2004;Sertkaya et al, 2005;Isık and Akca, 2018;Üstüner, 2018;Üstüner and Öztürk, 2018;Özkil et al, 2019). One of the ways to minimize the yield losses caused by weeds is to know the weed species and their biology in sugar beet fields.…”
