Introduction: Age at menopause, influencing factors associated, symptoms related and protective health behavior vary among populations. Objectives: Objectives of the study were to estimate the age at menopause, identify associated factors, assess the prevalence of menopausal symptoms and relate protective health behavior among Yemeni women. Methodology: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 1000 women naturally menopause aged 40-60 recruited from women community Centres in Sana'a city. Results: The mean age at menopause was found to be 47.8 ± 1.2 years. Significant influencing factors were genetic, biological, physical characteristics, weight, height, BMI, and physiological characteristic, such as menarche age, reproductive history, parity and abortion. Socioeconomic status had no significant influence. Most prevalent menopausal symptoms were hot flushes and sleep problems. The great majority of the women did not practice any special protective health behavior. Conclusion: Further studies on menopause phenomena are needed. Protective health behavior education efforts are made to increase women knowledge about menopause and promote menopausal women quality of life.

Background: Menopause is a physiologic process. Understanding its nature and symptoms can help women to adapt good quality of life during this period. There are shortages of recent data about this issue in Egyptian literature.Objectives: This study aimed to assess knowledge and attitude towards menopause among women aged 40-60 years attending primary health care centers (PHCs) in Cairo, Egypt, and to assess the severity of menopausal symptoms among them. Subjects and Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted in Cairo, Egypt. The sample size included data from 300 Egyptian women. A multistage cluster sampling technique was used to randomly select the studied two centers; El-Hagana family medicine center, and 6th district family medicine center at Nasr city. The data were collected from the studied women aged 40-60 years attending these centers by a valid structured questionnaire. The questionnaire included socio-demographic and reproductive data, and the Menopause Rating Scale rate scale (MRS) to assess the severity of menopausal symptoms. The collected data were analyzed using the appropriate statistical methods. Results:The mean age at menopause of the studied women was 46.6 ± 3.4 years. The level of good knowledge about menopause was significantly low among perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. Positive attitude towards menopause, however, was prevalent regarding most studied attitude items. The mean severity score of somatic symptoms was significantly high among perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. Also, the mean psychological and urogenital symptoms severity scoring was significantly high among these women. The mean total severity score was significantly high in perimenopausal women. Conclusion:The mean age at menopause was low. The observed low level of good knowledge necessitates more efforts for creating mass awareness about this issue.

(1) Background and objectives: Due to increasing life expectancy, more than one-third of women’s life can be spent in the postmenopausal period. In this period, women have different somatic, psychological, and urogenital symptoms. The present study was done to evaluate postmenopausal symptoms and their correlations among Saudi women attending different primary health centers. (2) Methods: adopting a cross-sectional study was done among 845 postmenopausal women attending different primary health centers. The menopause rating scale (MRS) was utilized to investigate the prevalence and severity of different menopausal manifestations. Data collection was done using a structured anonymous questionnaire disseminated during face-to-face interviews. Analysis of data was done utilizing the SPSS program, version 24. (3) Results: The total MRS score was 15.68 ± 6.85. The mean score of the subscales were: 5.56 ± 2.78 for the somatic domain, 6.04 ± 2.89 for the psychological domain, and 4.08 ± 2.32 for the urogenital domain. Joint and muscle pain (25.2%) and sleep problems (18.6%) were the most prevalent severe/very severe somatic symptoms. The most severe/very severe symptoms of the psychological domain were mental and physical exhaustion (20.2%) and depressed mode (19.2%), while that of the urogenital domain were sexual problems (20.1%) and bladder problems (16.3%). Significant predictors of the subscales of MRS were sociodemographic characteristics such as age, residence, marital status, educational level, and occupation. Furthermore, history of chronic diseases, parity, and menopause duration were significant predictors of the subscales of MRS. (4) Conclusion: women in the present study experience different postmenopausal symptoms. Health care providers should consider this crucial stage of women’s life to help elderly women manage these different postmenopausal manifestations.
