Assessment of Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties under Rain Fed Condition in North Eastern Ghat of Odisha

Abstract: A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2019 at NICRA villages viz. Nada, Chikili and Chopara of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ganjam1 through technology demonstration to analyse the performance of stress tolerant rice varieties under rainfed condition. Three different drought tolerant rice varieties i.e. MTU-1010, Sahabhagidhan and Swarna Shreya with ten replications were taken in random block design with improved package of practices compared to farmers’ practice. The results of technology demonstration revea… Show more

“…Lower grain yield might be due to lower dry matter production, number of tillers, test weight, panicle weight, number of filled grains panicle -1 and panicle length. The results are in conformity with the findings of Kumhar et al [23], Harish et al [15], Chandrika et al [18], Dileep et al [25], Sharath Chandra et al [32], Anil and Siddi [19], Mangaraj et al [26].…”

“…The difference in number of effective tillers among the genotypes might be due to their genetic potential, number of tillers, uptake of nutrients by varieties and crop weed competition ability of variety at all crop growth stages. The results are in close conformity by Kumhar et al [23], Chowhan et al [24], Dileep et al [25], and Mangaraj et al [26].…”

“…Along with improvement in yield and net return farmers preferenece or adoption of this variety has increased by 53 times (Table 5.) over initial year of demonstration both within and outside the village [17].
