The author investigates both archaeologically and epigraphically the Sânpaul-Mărtiniș-Ocland area fro Roman Dacia, putting in connection the presence of the Roman army and the salt exploitation. He presents the results of some surveys he made in the area and corroborates these results with the epigraphic containing attestation of the Roman army and of clerks involved in the administration of salt exploitation.

This study overviews the status of the power supply; implications of the inadequate power supply; and the significance of hydropower in the socioeconomic wellbeing of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This study noted that despite the large presence of energy potentials across the entire region, the power supply is grossly inadequate. Currently, the world's highest population without access to electricity live in SSA and the number, which was 585 million in 2009 is expected to increase to 645 million in 2030. The supply of clean, affordable and adequate power in the region is compounded by the global energy trends, described as energy trilemma by the world energy council. These attributes are anchored in three pillars -energy equity, energy security and environmental sustainability. This article sees hydropower technology, which has been revolutionised over the years into different categories, as a vital modern energy source for clean power generation. The hydropower technologies discussed are large hydropower, small hydropower (SHP) and pumped storage hydropower. Hydropower provides clean, relatively cheap electricity, reliable and sustainable power supply. The study identifies SHP as a system that satisfies the modern energy attributes of low CO 2 emissions and environmentally friendly scheme, suitable for standalone and rural electrification.

To ensure soil sustainability, the European Union considers the mitigation of the ecological, social and economic impacts and the prevention of soil degradation, which is the primary source of the ecosystem. In this respect, Land Use and Coverage Area Frame Survey (LUCAS) studies aim to investigate land use at the community level to gather information necessary for the analysis of the interactions between agriculture, environment and rural landscape and to provide estimates of agricultural areas with main crops. According to data from Eurostat, between May and October 2022, through the use of digital techniques, the levels of land coverage and land use, pastures, as well as irrigation management and structural elements in the landscape, were examined on the ground throughout the European Union. Data on the agricultural environment and soil were collected in the georeferenced points belonging to a representative sample by observing and completing the field form. At the level of the southwest region of Romania, the study was based on the inspection of 274 points by taking soil samples to analyze the quality indicators and identify key species of flowering plants. Data on land coverage and use can be used for a variety of environmental and socioeconomic projects in different fields.
