Assessment of psychometric properties of the Korean SF-12 v2 in the general population

Abstract: BackgroundThe psychometric properties of the Korean Short Form-12 Health Survey, version 2 (SF-12 v2) have not been assessed in the general population. Therefore, the aim of our study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the SF-12 v2 in the general population and to provide SF-12 v2 domain scores according to the general characteristics of the study population.MethodsA total of 1,000 participants from the general Korean population were recruited using a multistage quota sampling… Show more

“…It was because the domains BP, GH, VT, and SF used a single‐item question, in contrast to the α coefficient that was based on the correlation among the items (Maruish, ; Ware et al, ; Ware et al, ). The satisfactory findings were comparable with the Russian (Hoffmann et al, ), Iranian (Montazeri et al, ), Chinese (Lam et al, ), Malay (Noor & Aziz, ), and Korean versions (Kim et al, ). The reliability indicators for the PCS and MCS of the ISF12v2 were closed to the Malay, Iranian, and Korean versions.…”

“…The association between the items and the hypothesized components evidently indicated the results of the discriminant validity of the ISF12v2. These similar trends were also found on the Korean (Kim et al, ), Greek (Kontodimopoulos et al, ), Malay (Noor & Aziz, ), and Iranian versions (Montazeri et al, ), which have coefficient results of more than or equal to 0.30, showing a solid bonding.…”

“…[22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] The SF-12v2 was used because it was less time consuming to fill questionnaire and has comparable accuracy to the longer SF-36. 31 The scores range from 0 to 100: scores of 100 signify optimal health, while scores that are more or less than 50 are more or less healthy than the American population mean.…”

“…Quality of life was assessed using the Short Form of the Health the Survey Questionnaire (SF-12) developed by Ware, Kosinski, and Keller (1996) and translated into Korean by Han, Lee, Iwaya, Kataoka, and Kohzuki (2004). The validity and reliability of the Korean version of the SF-12 have been well established (Han et al, 2004;Kim et al, 2014). Higher scores on this scale indicate higher levels of quality of life.…”
