Assessment of Progress towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals of the “Agenda 2030” by Using the CoCoSo and the Shannon Entropy Methods: The Case of the EU Countries

Abstract: The United Nations Member States adopted the “Agenda 2030” which contains 17 sustainable development goals (SDG) that involve a certain number of targets and indicators. Although the indicators are helpful in defining the position of the current country relative to the goals’ achievement, it is very complex to determine its position relative to other countries, because this requires an extensive analysis. Therefore, in this paper, the application of the multiple-criteria decision-making approach (MCDM) in defi… Show more

“…It is now known that economic growth and industrialization have significant benefits offset by the growth of consumerism and the massive use of natural resources, [5] which are also likely to cripple the well-being of future generations [6]. Scholars have long highlighted the seriousness of the problem by indicating the importance of ecological and environmental conservation commonly defined as sustainability.…”

“…The method was initially introduced in 2019 and was developed for uncertain versions including Pythagorean Fuzzy (Taghavifard et al, 2018;Peng et al, 2020), grey/interval , interval rough (Erceg et al, 2019), fuzzy CoCoSo (Ecer and Pamucar, 2020) and hesitant fuzzy . This method has been recently used for many scientific investigations including the assessment of sustainable development goals (Stanujkic et al, 2020), facility location problems (Ulutas et al, 2020), performance assessment problems Kharwar et al, 2020), stock management (Erceg et al, 2019) and supplier selection (Zolfani et al, 2019;Ecer and Pamucar, 2020). This wide range of applications demonstrates the fact that this method is a popular and reliable algorithm for any multi-criteria decision-making problem.…”

“…Each method has its features and shortcomings while there is no best generally adopted method available yet. Therefore, several methods are often used in the same evaluation; the average evaluation is then usually taken as the ultimate result of the evaluation [20].…”
