Environmental pollution is one of the major concerns leading to the rise in the temperature of the earth's surface. Owing to this serious concern, many countries in the world are facing so many environmental disasters every year. Hence, it becomes the need of the hour to act immediately to reduce environmental pollution so that the future becomes safer. Fireworks form an integral part of the Indian Subcontinent in almost all the festivals and cultural rituals. This results in the emission of a huge amount of various toxic fumes that directly affect the environmental purity of the air. The objective of the current research work focuses on the reduction of pollution caused due to the emission from burning reworks. One of the important ingredients used in pyrotechnics is ash powder. The traditional ash powder composition contains aluminium powder as fuel, potassium nitrate as an oxidizer and Sulphur as an igniter at de ned levels. To reduce the impact of toxic emissions in ash powder, an organic compound like Sargassum wightii brown seaweed powder is used as a replacement at prescribed levels and the experimentation is carried out. It is found that the Sulphur weightage in the ash powder composition can be replaced up to 50% with the Sargassum wightii brown seaweed powder without affecting the traditional performance of the ash powder. To study the emissions taking place in the ash powder composition, a specially designed ash powder emission testing chamber has been developed. Upon testing, it is evident that the ash powder composition with Sargassum wightii showed that there is a reduction in toxic emission upto 21% on the modi ed ash powder. This helps in generating cleaner emission and leads to attain greener pyrotechnics norms.

In rework industries, ash powder which is a chemical mixture is used for crackers manufacturing. Flash powder is a highly in ammable chemical mixture. It consists of Aluminium, Sulphur, and Potassium Nitrate. In the manufacturing, daily wastes are collected and burned in the open pit. This leads not only to air pollution but also causes many accidents. There seems to exist no satisfactory method of waste disposal that is suitable for explosive waste. Here, the author has suggested a novel method according to which the explosives can be converted into an inert substance by adding solid inertants and then can be safely disposed by land ll. A solid inertant mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP) chemical was utilized to lower the ash powder's sensitivity. MAP is a re extinguishing agent which can also be used as a fertilizer for the soil. In this work, various tests like layer ignition temperature, friction and impact sensitivity, plant growth test and decomposition test were conducted for the MAP mixed ash powder. From the various tests, it has been concluded that 50% MAP mixed ash powder would be safe to handle and that 75% mixed ash powder does not decompose at all weather conditions. After land lling, soil is not polluted, and it could be used for agriculture purpose.
