Assessment of Polish Power System angular stability based on analysis of different disturbance waveforms

Abstract: Abstract. The paper presents investigation results concerning assessment of the Polish Power System (PPS) angular stability based on power system state matrix eigenvalues associated with electromechanical phenomena, when using the angular stability factors calculated on the basis of these eigenvalues. The eigenvalues were calculated by analysis of the disturbance waveforms of the instantaneous power, angular speed and power angle of synchronous generators in PPS generating units when taking into account introd… Show more

“…Assuming additionally that in the analyzed period of time (about a dozen or so minutes), the system does not change its properties in time, i.e. it is a stationary system, the PS model linearized at the steady state operating point can be presented in the form of the following state equations and output equations [3,7,13,[17][18][19]:…”

“…However, our goal in this paper is not to focus on this estimation, but instead to redesign the excitation control law (5-6) to stabilize the nonlinear system with input saturation. Then the proposed SAEC control strategy is presented as follows (5) where c 3 , p 3 and ε 2 are positive constants, z 4 …”

“…The main contents of this problem include generation, transmission and distribution of energy. Power system is regarded as one of the most complex systems in the world [1] and in order to obtain satisfactory and optimal operating state, many researchers have developed various solutions from their different professional perspectives [2][3][4][5]. This paper studies power system transient stability by using model-based control systems technology [6].…”

“…Such a serial connection of genetic and gradient algorithms eliminates the basic drawbacks of both optimization methods. The use of a genetic algorithm in the first stage of searching the minimum of the objective function eliminates the problem of precise determination of the starting point [13,14], whereas a gradient algorithm used in the second stage converges much faster towards the searched extremum [15].…”
