Objective: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome has become a pandemic worrying the world community. The HIV virus destroys the human immune system causing the person can lose their immune system so that they are easily infected and die from complications of various diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the administration of sago caterpillars oil extract can increase levels of lymphocytes, leukocyte, and CD4 on HIV patients in Papua. Methods:The research method utilized a true experiment with a randomized control group design. Data collection techniques included several double-blind stages. The first, selection of sago caterpillar and was done extraction process to get oil then packed into capsules. The second step, intervention in 14 subjects randomly which divided into 3 groups, the group receiving flour extract (n=5), oil extract (n=5), and the control group with placebo (n=4). During the intervention, all subjects were placed in a shelter and got the same food and the same activity. Results:Based on paired sample test statistical tests, it was found that there were significant differences before and after intervention in the group given oil preparations (p=0.023 <0.05) and control (p=0.043<0.05). Measurement of leukocyte levels showed that the group of oil and flour preparations had significant differences before and after intervention (p=0.040 <0.05, p=0.010), whereas in the control group, there were no significant differences between before and after administration (p=0.182>0.05). All intervention groups experienced an increase in CD4 cell count in the blood. The results of paired sample test statistical tests CD4 levels before and after the intervention showed a significant relationship in the three treatment groups (p=0.001; 0.025; 0.015 <0.05). Conclusion:The administration of sago caterpillar oil extract gives a significant effect against the rising of lymphocyte, leukocyte, and CD4 level in HIV sufferers blood.

for at least three months and are manifested by either kidney damage (most frequently detected as persistent albuminuria or proteinuria) or a decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), which is < 60 ml/min per 1.73 m2. (1) . Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a worldwide public health problem. Objective: To determine the prevalence and associated factors of CKD Patients at WURH from November 14-28, 2022. Methods: An institutional-based cross-sectional study of 208 chronic patients was conducted at WURH, which were found in the East Wollega zone, Nekemte town, Ethiopia between December 2021 to November 2022. All analyses and calculations Were performed using SPSS software (SPSS version 20). Data was presented as the means ±SDs for continuous variables and proportions for categorical variables. Demographic and clinical data were described. P values less than 0.05 at a 95% confidence interval were considered statistically significant. Result: The magnitude of chronic kidney disease among the study participants was found that 53 (25.5%) of the participants had hypertension, of whom 60.2 had a follow-up, 22 (10.6%) had diabetes, all of whom were on follow-up, and 46 (22.1%) had cardiac problems. Serum creatinine level was determined for 193(92%) participants and 151(72.6%) had normal level while it was raised (>1.2mg/dl) in 42(20.2%). urine dipstick test for proteinuria was done for 109(52.4%) of the participants and the result showed that 40(36.7%) had +1 proteinuria,32(29.4%) had +2 and 21(19.3%) had +3 and above. Conclusion: The prevalence of CKD in this study concludes that the disease become abundant and needs attention. The magnitude of the disease involves all age categories and is similarly common among males and females. Besides, CKD without any underlying associated factors appears abundant. CKD magnitude among patients with hypertension had statistical significance. Chronic kidney disease is rising at an alarming rate. Therefore, we recommend that relevant prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutic measures must be undertaken in all health facilities.

BackgroundAfter the introduction of antiretroviral therapy, the care given to people living with HIV has become complicated by the appearance of comorbidities as a result of HIV and HAART toxicities, in which cardiovascular disease got the most attention. So, this study aimed to assess serum uric acid and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels among people living with HIV on dolutegravir (DTG) and ritonavir-boosted atazanavir (ATV/r)-based therapy.MethodsAn institutional-based comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from November 4, 2021, to January 4, 2022. An equal number of dolutegravir- and ritonavir-boosted atazanavir-treated patients (n = 86 each) were enrolled. A consecutive sampling method was used to select participants. Data were entered into Epidata version 4.6, exported to SPSS version 25.0, and analyzed using Chi-square, Student’s t-test, Mann–Whitney U-test, and logistic regression. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05.ResultsThe prevalence of hyperuricemia and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels ≥2 mg/L were 46.5% (40/86) and 24.4% (21/86) in the DTG group, and 30.2% (26/86) and 44.2 (38/86) in the ATV/r group, respectively. When compared to ATV/r, a higher mean level of uric acid was found among DTG-based regimens (5.38 mg/dL). Duration of ART (AOR = 2, 95% CI: 1.2, 4.4) and DTG-based regimen (AOR = 1.9, 95% CI: 1.04, 3.8) were significant predictors of developing hyperuricemia. ATV/r-based regimen (AOR = 3, 95% CI: 1.5, 8.3) and high waist circumference (AOR = 2.5, 95% CI: 1, 3.5) were significantly associated with increased high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels.ConclusionIt is observed that DTG-based and ATV/r-based ART are associated with hyperuricemia and increased high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels, respectively. Therefore, it is important to consider and evaluate serum uric acid and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels in patients taking DTG and ATV/r-based ART, as well as among those on HAART for years and with a higher waist circumference, so as to detect and prevent early the risk of having CVD.
