Assessment of Inflammatory Hematological Ratios (NLR, PLR, MLR, LMR and Monocyte/HDL–Cholesterol Ratio) in Acute Myocardial Infarction and Particularities in Young Patients

Bogdan-Sorin Tudurachi,
Larisa Anghel,
Andreea Tudurachi
et al.

Abstract: Cardiovascular disease, particularly coronary artery disease (CAD), remains a predominant cause of mortality globally. Factors such as atherosclerosis and inflammation play significant roles in the pathogenesis of CAD. The nexus between inflammation and CAD is underscored by the role of immune cells, such as neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages. These cells orchestrate the inflammatory process, a core component in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. The activation of these pathwa… Show more

“…MLR and PLR are currently considered hematological markers for indicating inflammation in diseases [ 22 ]. Demirbaş et al investigated the role of MLR and PLR in vitiligo and found that it was statistically significantly higher in vitiligo patients as compared to the control group.…”

“…Neutrophil and lymphocyte counts were determined by conducting a complete blood count on blood specimens using a Beckman Coulter automated blood analyzer in an MEC, expressed as × 10 3 cells/µL. NLR was calculated as the absolute neutrophil count divided by the absolute lymphocyte count [ 23 ].…”

“…49,50 Consequently, the PLR is commonly used in clinical examinations as an indicator of both the state and degree of the inflammation. 51 Besides, previous animal study has suggested that a HFD can lead to reduction in intestinal granulocytes, related with an elevation in gut permeability and inflammation. 52 In our study, LAX significantly reduced the high platelet counts, PLR and also markedly normalized the lymphocytes and granulocytes counts, consistent with its anti-inflammatory properties.…”
