Assessment of Annona reticulata Linn. leaves fractions for invitro antioxidative effect and antimicrobial potential against standard human pathogenic strains

Abstract: Since from long time the plant, Annona reticulata Linn. is known for its beneficial effects. Leaves of A. reticulata were screened for phytochemicals and in vitro antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal activity. The shade dried leaves were extracted with methanol and aqueous methanolic extract was partitioned successively with n-butanol, chloroform and acetone solvents. Methanolic extract was subjected to antioxidant screening using DPPH free radical scavenging activity and H 2 O 2 scavenging activity. Anti… Show more

“…Anti-proliferative activities of A. reticulata were documented in pharmacological studies [11]. Few studies were carried out on the antioxidant activity of A. reticulata using single organic solvent extract [12][13][14][15], but lacks of executing the complete antioxidative profile of A. reticulata leaves extract using various solvent system. Therefore, in the present study is aimed to investigate the complete screening and evaluation of free radical scavenging activity from the leaves extracts' of A. reticulata using various solvent system, and quantifying antioxidant compounds of phenolic and flavanoid contents in each solvent extracts.…”

“…Different plant parts are effectively employed as folk medicine in the rural area of India. The plant is rich in several phytochemicals such as dopamine, salsolinol, coclaurine, sesquiterpenes and acetogenin [6]. It also contains minerals such as Ca, P, K, Mg, Na, Cl, S, Mn, Zn, Fe, Cu, Se, Co, Ni and Cr [5].…”

“…[10][11][12][13] Annona reticulata (Annonaceae) is a small, deciduous tree commonly called Ramphal, Bullock's heart, or custard apple, which is native to India, West Indies, and tropical America, mainly cultivated for fruit production. 14,15 This plant is a good source of different phytochemicals like acetogenins, cycloreticulins A and B, cyclooctapeptides, cycloreticulin C, glabrin A, and cyclopeptides. [15][16][17] In this study, GNPs were synthesized using A. reticulata L. leaf aqueous extract as a reducing agent.…”
