Background: Strategic planning and objectives at the provincial and local levels should be consistent with the requirements, obligations, and official standards. Objectives: In the present study, we sought to assess the health system's informative documents on disaster management used by the decision-makers. Methods: This was a qualitative research, which utilized content analysis. Seven national documents were selected from 9 national documents on disaster management. Valid checklists and data extraction forms were used for data collection. Results: Based on the United Nations disaster preparedness (UNDP) protocol, preparedness and mitigation strategies were investigated in national documents. We identified 52 strategies in disaster preparedness and 19 in disaster mitigation. The most mentioned strategies were related to organizational structure, resource planning mobilization, and strategies on evaluation, vulnerability assessment, and disaster response mechanisms. Conclusions: According to the findings of the present study, more attention should be paid to the mission and vision of the organizations in disaster preparedness. To improve the disaster preparedness measures, more emphasis should be placed on other disaster preparedness strategies such as response mechanisms and information systems.

ABSTRAKBencana alam adalah suatu peristiwa atau serangkaian peristiwa yang dapat mengakibatkan timbulnya korban jiwa manusia, kerusakan lingkungan, kerugian harta benda, dan dampak psikologis. Oleh karena itu, perlunya kesiapsiagaan perawat terlebih khusus pada aspek psikologis disamping dari aspek fisik. Penulisan jurnal ini menggunakan pendekatan studi literature dari beberapa database, yaitu PubMed dan BioMedCentral (BMC) Psychiatry. Secara total, literature review terdiri dari 10 jurnal; 4 penelitian melaporkan hasil yang efektif diantaranya pengetahuan, keterampilan, kesadaran diri, minat, intelektual, kerjasama, dan motivasi perlu dipersiapkan untuk mendukung penanggulangan bencana, 5 penelitian melaporkan bahwa perawat perlu mempersiapkan diri pada aspek psikologis berupa kognitif, intelektual, minat, sikap, pendidikan keterampilan klinis dan pemahaman penyelamatan dengan prinsip-prinsip dasar dukungan psikososial. Satu penelitian melaporkan hasil bahwa perlunya pelatihan bagi administrator pada manajemen rumah sakit dalam siaga bencana. Aspek psikologis sangat penting yang harus disiapkan oleh tenaga perawat dalam menghadapi bencana alam, sehingga mencegah timbulnya dampak psikologis Kata Kunci: Kesiapsiagaan perawat, aspek psikologis dan bencana alam. ABSTRACTNatural disasters are an event or series of events caused by natural phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, floods, droughts, hurricanes and landslides, resulting in human casualties, environmental damage, property losses objects, and psychological effects. Aim is know nurse preparedness in psychological aspect in facing natural disaster. The writing of this journal uses a literature study approach from several sources selected based on the criteria set by the author. The research journal was obtained from several databases, namely PubMed and BioMedCentral (BMC) Psychiatry. In total, the literature review consists of 10 journals, 4 studies report effective outcomes including knowledge, skills, self-awareness, interest, intellectual, cooperation, and motivation need to be prepared to support disaster management, 5 research reports that nurses need to prepare themselves on the psychological aspect in the form of cognitive, intellectual, interest, attitude, clinical skills education and rescue comprehension with basic principles of psychosocial support. Last 1 study reported the result that the need for training for administrators on hospital management in disaster preparedness. The psychological aspect is very important that must be prepared by the nurse in facing natural disaster, thus preventing the occurrence of psychological impact.

Background: The basic step in planning and policy-making for hospital surge capacity in disasters is the awareness of the current situation and problems. This issue is of greater importance in hospitals of developing countries that usually face many problems in ordinary situations; this paper aimed at identifying the status of hospitals in a developing country for surge capacity and the associated challenges at the time of disasters, and strategies to solve them. Methods: In this qualitative study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 27 participants, who were mostly officials of hospitals and the authorities of the ministry of health in Iran. Thematic analysis was used for analyzing the data. Results: In this study, 40 subthemes and 12 themes under 4 main categories, including space, medication/supplies, manpower, and functional structures/plans, were identified. Some of these themes included shortage of space inside the structures, weakness in providing medication/emergency medical supplies, general shortage of manpower, weakness in maintaining and recalling staff at the time of hospital surge capacity in disasters, content defect in hospitals disaster preparedness plan, and weakness in training for disasters Conclusions: Generally, there are various challenges hospital surge capacity at the time of disasters, and hospitals are disadvantaged in this regard. However, implementing strategies recognized in this study may help resolve these challenges.
