Paddy is one of the main food-crop commodities in Indonesia. The main problem in paddy cultivation in Paser Regency is good water quality for plants. Water is the main requirement for paddy plants to grow and develop. Water quality to meet the needs of paddy plants is a very important factor. pH H2O, TDS (Total Dissolve Solid) and EC (Electrical Conductivity) are some of the water parameters used as a reference in determining land suitability for paddy plants. The purpose of this research is to spatially analyse the water parameters (pH H2O, TDS and EC) for the water needs of paddy plants in Paser Regency. Determination of sample points using stratified random sampling method and parameter measurements are carried out directly in the field in the irrigation area. Interpolation analysis used the IDW (Inverse Distance Weighted) method with a power weight of 2. RMSE values from the interpolation results for pH H2O 0.0001, TDS 0.1695 and EC 0.0003. The results of the interpolation of several parameters are then analysed by overlay to determine the spatial relationship between parameters. The results of the analysis show that the average values in Paser Regency are pH H2O 6.13, TDS 478.64 ppm and EC 0.82 mS/cm. The area of pH H2O (6.5-8.4) suitable for paddy plants is 391447.87 ha, TDS (<2000 ppm) 1067265.23 ha and EC (<3 mS/cm) 1066907.37 ha. Most of the pH H2O suitable for paddy plants is in the northern region, while the TDS and EC are better in the northern region although most of them are still suitable for paddy plants. Each parameter has a spatial relationship, where the value of each parameter influences each other. Overall, the northern area in Paser Regency is more suitable for paddy cultivation according to water parameters, namely pH H2O, TDS and EC.

Water has become a necessity in our daily life. The impact of unsafe water on the consumer is critically alarmed and has contributed human health problem. An alternative clean water sources as a water supply should be sustainable solution to overcome this problem. Malaysia is located at the equator to have rain and hot weather along the year. Therefore, the possible use of spring water as an alternative clean water source will improve the quality of water consumption especially for small community in rural area. The aim of this study is to investigate the performance of spring water sources located in National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) campus to support the Green Campus champaign. The spring water analysis was performed for various physicochemical during February 2020. Temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solid, total suspended solid and dissolved oxygen were measured to generate water quality index. The results demonstrated the water samples were found to be suitable for use were within permissible limits except pH were close to or exceeded the permissible limit of standards, which indicates that requirement of treatment prior to use. The outcome of this study may contribute to propose the new way of monitoring water quality in campus by using real-time system. In addition, the outcome also to provides the baseline information about water quality for the welfare of society, support the green campus campaign and that may also help in future water security and sustainability planning for the NDUM campus area.

Vertical electrical sounding (VES) as a geoelectrical method has proven its effectiveness throughout the history of groundwater geophysical investigation. In this sense, VES was carried out 47 in the study area with the aim of determining the geometry and limits of Quaternary basaltic aquifer formations and, above all, the location of electrical discontinuities in the area located in the north of Morocco, between the center of Almis Guigou and the city of Timahdite. This area is experiencing an overexploitation of the groundwater due to excessive pumping and the development of intensive agriculture activities, resulting in a continuous decrease in piezometric levels. The processing of the diagrams by WINSEV software showed the presence of an electrically resistant surface level, attributed to basaltic formations, of the Quaternary age, whose thicknesses reach at least 150 m to the SW of the area. This level is superimposed on a moderately conductive horizon which, according to local geology, corresponds to Pliocene marl and limestone alternations. The correlation of VES interpretation models allowed us to elaborate thematic maps and geoelectrical sections which illustrate the vertical and lateral extension of the basaltic reservoir as well as its thickness, which decreases in general from the south-west to the north-east; however, the main electrical discontinuities also correspond to faults and fractures, and they show a NE–SW direction sub-parallel to the major accidents of the Middle Atlas. A prospectivity map of the local aquifer was generated, coinciding with regional fault lines and confirmed by the alignment of very good flowing water boreholes. This geophysical study by electrical sounding shed light on the geometry and extension of the aquifer and opened avenues to draw further conclusions on its physical and hydrodynamic characteristics, as well as to optimize the future siting of groundwater exploitation boreholes through the elaboration of the local aquifer prospectivity map.
