“…Patients treated with FMT showed a significant clinical response at three months compared to those in the placebo group (65% vs. 43%, p = 0.049) [39]. These findings were further confirmed by other recent studies showing a positive effect on IBS symptoms after transplant, as 70-85% and 45-60% of patients reported symptomatic relief in the first three months and six months after FMT, respectively [81,82]. On the contrary, a recent study including 52 IBS adult patients who were randomized to either active FMT or placebo capsules administered for 12 months did not show beneficial effects favoring FMT at three months.…”

“…Johnsen et al performed the first RCT on FMT in treating moderate‐to‐severe IBS and showed that the effect of FMT was superior to that of a placebo at 3 months. Another study found that 75% of patients with IBS experienced relief from IBS symptoms and abdominal bloating 12 weeks after FMT. At follow‐up, 78% of the responders stated that they had significant relief from IBS symptoms after 1 year, suggesting a long‐lasting effect of FMT on IBS.…”

“…Imbalances in gut microbiota may negatively influence intestinal secretion and motility, even causing IBS. Holvoet et al reported that the positive effects of FMT on IBS‐related symptoms could be linked to changes in the gut microbiota. FMT, as a treatment option for IBS, could modify gut microbiota composition, suggesting that there is a significant correlation between abnormal gut microbiota and IBS.…”

“…Neben dem in dieser Studie vorgestellten RDS-Behandlungsansatz gibt es noch andere vielversprechende Behandlungsmöglichkeiten. So konnte man durch den Einsatz von Probiotika [3,[10][11][12] und Fäkaltransplantationen [13,14] …”
