“…Several epidemiological studies have confirmed that the occurrence of oxidative stress following metal exposure is relevant for human health assessment (Ellis et al, 2012; Martinez-Zamudio and Ha, 2011). In our previous study (Aksu et al, 2018), blood levels of Cr, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Pb in workers were found to be significantly higher than in the control group as reported in several previous studies on welders (Danadevi et al, 2004; Li et al, 2004; Mahmood et al, 2015; Mierna et al, 2015). In the present study, we investigated the correlation between blood metal levels and oxidative stress biomarkers and we found a significant positive correlation between 8-OHdG levels and blood Cr, Mn, Cu, and Pb levels; a significant negative correlation between GPx, CAT, SOD activities and blood Cr levels; CAT, SOD activities and blood Cd levels in welders.…”
