“…For the screener ChilD-S, there are two optimal cut-off points with an excellent sensitivity (C0.91) and at the same time a high specificity (C0.85). Both cutoff points yielded higher sensitivity values than those found in similar studies [29,33,36,38,39], in which sensitivity ranged between 0.60 and 0.81. At the same time the ChilD-S achieved an at least comparable specificity to the other questionnaires, since these studies found values of specificity between 0.70 and 0.86.…”

“…In general, the PPVs are rather low for most screening instruments (e.g. PPV of MFQ-C = 0.21 [38]; PPV of CDI = 0.38 [29]; PPV of CDI = 0.38 [36]). Therefore, screening can only be considered as a first step in a diagnostic process.…”

“…Many physicians believe that feelings of depression and anxiety are normal responses during cancer treatment and therefore may overlook significant impairing symptoms (Kersun 2009). A study by Shemesh et al (2005) demonstrated that a lower cut-off score on the Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) of 11 and above, instead of 13 to 15, the cut-off score used in the general population, correctly identified 80% of children with depression out of 125 medically ill children, with a specificity of 70%. The CDI has been evaluated in medically ill children and found to be diagnostically accurate in several settings including childhood cancer (Kersun 2009), but Shemesh’s study suggests clinicians should have a low threshold for diagnosing and treating depression in young cancer patients.…”

“…Esse achado encontra respaldo na literatura, que considera a anedonia como o componente mais específico da depressão em doentes crônicos, por ser, dentre toda a sintomatologia depressiva, aquele que menos é afetado pela condição de base 27 . Os escores significativamente maiores no domínio "Humor deprimido" entre os adolescentes estão em concordância com a literatura, que destaca o humor deprimido como um dos sintomas mais prevalentes no adolescente com depressão 16 .…”
