Assessment of Correlation Between Acute Viral Hepatitis and Serum Lipid Levels

Abstract: BACKGROUND As liver is an essential organ in lipid metabolism, several stages of lipid synthesis and transportation, it is reasonable to expect an abnormal lipid profile in those with severe liver dysfunction. There is prominent decline in plasma cholesterol and triglyceride (TG) in patients with severe hepatitis and hepatic failure because of reduction of lipoprotein biosynthesis.
