“…The TVM types include Perigee® (AMS Inc., Minnetonka, MN, USA), Avaulta A (Avaulta Anterior Plus BioSynthetic Support System, C. R. Bard, Inc., Murray Hill, NJ, USA), Prolift T (Gynecare PROLIFT Anterior and Posterior Pelvic Floor Repair Systems, Ethicon, Inc., Somerville, NJ, USA), and Elevate A (Elevate® Anterior and Apical Prolapse Repair System, AMS Inc., Minnetonka, MN, USA). Details of the surgical procedures were as described previously for Perigee [15,16], Avaulta A [17], Prolift T [18], and Elevate A [19]. SSF was performed by adopting the right unilateral posterior approach as described by Miyazaki [20].…”

“…Several groups have developed coating strategies of meshes used in prolapse surgery. Mesh coating with collagen has been mainly investigated in animal studies showing positive effects on biocompatibility [38][39][40][41]. However, this approach has not shown convincing results for the treatment of anterior vaginal wall prolapse when applying it in humans [42,43].…”

“…To prove that sacrospinous ligament fixation is mandatory to provide apical support we conducted studies on transvaginal mesh (Perigee and Prolift A, Avaulta system) with sacrospinous ligament fixation. 7,8,10 Results show better prolapse cure rates on transvaginal mesh with sacrospinous fixation and that transvaginal mesh provided good anterior compartment support. The long-term follow up of 86 months has shown the important role of transvaginal mesh on vaginal surgery.…”
