Assessment of co-channel interference in fixed wireless cellular system operating at Ka band

Abstract

As demand for multimedia wireless services increase, spectrum congestion forces system planncr to consider the use of radio links operating at millimetre wave band. However, the high signal propagation impairment such as rain attenuation, shadowing and multi-path fading effects are the dominant causes of signal degradation at those frequencies. In this paper, performances of local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) system is analysed by considering these channel characteristics based on proposed cellular pattern. Results show the proposed cellular improve system performance by reducing the number of near interfering sources.
