Assessment of cloud vendors using interval‐valued probabilistic linguistic information and unknown weights

Abstract: Cloud vendors (CVs) play an indispensable role in the development of IT sectors and industry 4.0. Many CVs evolve every day, and a systematic selection of these is becoming substantial for organizations. Literature studies have shown that multicriteria decision‐making (MCDM) is a powerful tool for systematic selection. However, the major issue with the state‐of‐the‐art models is that they do not effectively represent uncertainty. Moreover, the personalized selection of CVs based on user queries is not prominen… Show more

“…Optimization models (Krishankumar et al, 2021 ; Sivagami et al, 2021 ) are put forward in the former category and the system incurs overhead for obtaining partial information on each criterion. When experts are unable/unwilling to express their views on the importance of criterion, the methods from the latter category are put forward, such as entropy (Zheng et al, 2020 ; Mahmood and Ali, 2020), analytical hierarchy process (Anbuudayasankar et al, 2020 ), best–worst approach (Rezai, 2015; Pamucar et al, 2020 ), and so on.…”

“…PLTS is also an extension form of HFLTS, which is composed of linguistic terms with assigned probabilities [ 24 ]. The IVPLTS changed the crisp probabilities into interval probabilities, which was used by Bai et al [ 12 ] and Sivagami et al [ 156 ] in multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) problems.…”

“…Broadly, weights are determined with partially known information or completely unknown information. Programming models [47] are used for the former context, and the latter context uses approaches like the analytical hierarchy process [48], entropies [49] and the like. The present study assumes that the information about the factors is unknown, so it closely resembles the latter context.…”
