Elevation of VTG synthesis and gene expression in the liver have been observed in males affected by EEs or other endocrine‐disrupting chemicals in wild fish, such as the cichlid, Tilapia guineensis (Adeogun, Ibor, Adeduntan, & Arukwe, ), and the fathead minnow, Pimephales promelas (Jasinska et al, ). In particular, a significant influence on VTG synthesis and gene expression by a high concentration of EEs via exposure or injection have been demonstrated in the male sand goby, Pomatoschistus minutus (Robinson et al, ), and the crucian carp, Carassius auratus (Huang et al, ), among others.…”
