Waste management is a complex challenge for cities in developing countries, including Indonesia. This issue is particularly severe in heritage tourism areas, where unmanaged waste can affect the aesthetics and image of historic places. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the sustainability aspects of waste management using heritage visitors’ destinations and waste management operator areas of the Old City of Semarang. A quantitative method was used to achieve this objective, and data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, field observations, document reviews and analyzed using descriptive methods. The results showed that visitors had positive behavior and awareness regarding waste management. Furthermore, sustainable waste management was implemented but not fully realized across all aspects. This study offered various measures to improve sustainable waste management in area, including waste sorting, collaboration between stakeholders, and policy advocacy on sustainable waste management.

Este estudio tuvo como propósito determinar el efecto de la colaboración ciudadana en la administración de los desechos sólidos en la Municipalidad de Moche, Trujillo. El estudio es de carácter vinculativo explicativo, con bosquejo básico transeccional descriptivo vinculacional causal y se empleó un enfoque de orientación cuantitativa. La población de estudio integrada por 31,500 pobladores que residen en la zona urbana de Moche. La selección muestral fue por conformidad e interés de los investigadores. El proceso de acopio de datos fue la encuesta, y se crearon dos herramientas para tal fin, los cuales fueron: la herramienta para mensurar la participación ciudadana y la herramienta para mensurar la gestión de residuos sólidos. Los resultados encontrados en este estudio han establecido que existe un nexo enormemente significativo positivo entre la colaboración ciudadana y la administración de desechos sólidos; ya que se ha anotado un índice de vinculación de Rho Spearman de r=0,589**; como también el efecto de la primera variable en la segunda variable. Como conclusión es indispensable fortalecer acciones centradas en la colaboración ciudadana para acrecentar la administración de residuos sólidos.

Food loss and food waste leads to severe effect such as economic, environment and social consequences in Indonesia as the third largest contributor of food waste In the world. Most of the food waste source in Indonesia is from household sector. This phenomenon needs to be analyzed more deeply with tested variables related to human behaviour and perception. This study investigates determinants of residents’ participation intention and behaviour to waste their food in a framework that incorporates Extended theory of planned behaviour (TPB). The modified TPB questionnaire was given to 300 respondent samples ever used waste bank in Solo, Central Java. The analysis in this study was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), The result of this research is that there are five significant correlations between variables, namely Perceived Circular Knowledge, Perceived Economic Usage, Perceived Economic Knowledge, Descriptive Norms and attitude have a significant effect on Intention to Use. This study also found that the Perceived Effectiveness, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Behavioural Control factors had no significant effect on Intention to Use.
