A recent multidisciplinary compilation of studies on changes in the Siberian environment details how climate is changing faster than most places on Earth with exceptional warming in the north and increased aridity in the south. Impacts of these changes are rapid permafrost thaw and melt of glaciers, increased flooding, extreme weather events leading to sudden changes in biodiversity, increased forest fires, more insect pest outbreaks, and increased emissions of CO 2 and methane. These trends interact with sociological changes leading to land-use change, globalisation of diets, impaired health of Arctic Peoples, and challenges for transport. Local mitigation and adaptation measures are likely to be limited by a range of public perceptions of climate change that vary according to personal background. However, Siberia has the possibility through land surface feedbacks to amplify or suppress climate change impacts at potentially global levels. Based on the diverse studies presented in this Ambio Special Issue, we suggest ways forward for more sustainable environmental research and management. The summary table of global warming energy patterns calculated using accumulated natural data accumulated by the world science is presented. The analysis shows that in each successive decade the contribution of positive feedbacks to global warming increases relative to the preceding decade. Each kilowatt hour of energy produced and used by humanity warms our planet through the anthropogenic greenhouse effect by 20 kWh. The functions of dependence of the radiative temperature equilibrium on the content in the atmosphere of the three main greenhouse gases have been derived. We propose functions for the dependence of the amount of accumulated thermal energy in the Earth’s climatic system and the duration of global warming on the content of anthropogenic greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. A forecast of the global sea level rise and the marginal frequency of natural disasters over time is provided. If mankind has halved greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, global warming will progress for about 170 years until it reaches a radiative equilibrium temperature of 4,2° C.

The influence of the passage of mesoscale convective complexes (MCC) on γ-ray background and the meteorological quantities in the surface layer are presented in paper. It is noted, that the surface electric field reacts to the passage of the MCC earlier than other measured quantities. This temporary delay is 1 hour. After the rain ended, the elevated radiation background remained for more than 2 hours.
