Assessment and Spatial Variability Mapping of Soil Available Phos-phorus and Potassium of Coarse-textured Soils in New Valley, Egypt Using Geostatistical Technique

Abstract: Assessment and understanding of soil available phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) content distribution is an important part of deciding whether or not the fertilization is appropriate or even necessary for a soil. So, the main objective of this study is to evaluate and map the spatial variability of the available soil P and K using the geostatistical technique. Georeferencing surface soil samples (0-25 cm) were collected from four sites representing course-textured soils in ElKharga and El-Dakhla oases. Ordinary… Show more

“…The availability of Nmin in soils can be categorized as Low < 40, Moderate 40-80, and High > 80 mg•kg −1 [69]. Based on this classification, the Arenosol (sandy) soil had a low availability of mineral nitrogen at 38.85 mg•kg −1 .…”

“…In addition, knowledge of the temporal and spatial variations of soil properties is important to evaluate the effects of agricultural works on environmental characteristics (Arnous and Hassan 2006;Goenster-Jordan et al, 2018). The Kriging method is the most powerful and effective interpolation method used in geostatistics applications However, many researchers have used GIS and geostatistics techniques as decision tools in many agricultural applications for the spatial interpolation of soil characteristics, land evaluation, and land suitability assessment (Da Silva et al, 2015;Mevlut 2016;Chang et al, 2014;Swify et al, 2017;Yousif, 2019;Aldabaa and Yousif 2020;Elnaggar 2021;Amer et al, 2021;Selmy et al, 2020 andNada et al, 2022;Abdullahi et al 2023;Okashaa, 2023).…”
