Assessment and Spatial-Temporal Evolution Analysis of Land Use Conflict within Urban Spatial Zoning: Case of the Su-Xi-Chang Region

Abstract: As China rapidly urbanizes, land resources tend to deplete. This paper aims to identify and propose a resolution of land use conflicts to promote sustainable land use and coordinate the interaction between humans and the environment in urban areas. The methodology of land use conflict assessment within spatial zoning of the Su–Xi–Chang region was evaluated. Taking into consideration the intensity of human activities and the background condition of the natural environment, we divided the study area into a few r… Show more

“…The Vensim PLE 7.3.5 software was employed to construct the System Dynamics model of land use change in the study area (Figure 3). The System Dynamics (SD) model developed in this research comprises four primary subsystems: economic; population; climate; and land use [59]. By utilizing land use, socioeconomic, and meteorological data from Ankang City spanning the years 2000 to 2020, the study examines the feedback and interaction relationships among each subsystem and variable.…”

“…Urbanization has entered into a rapid development period in the 21st century and urban expansion, as an important symbol in the process of urbanization, has become a hot topic of urban geography [1]. In the early discussion of urban expansion, there is often no associated definition and connotation, and it is objectively described as additional residential, industrial, and commercial urban land moving away from the city center [2], or defined as when two cities are close together and the rural space in between is embellished with new development [3]. Since the end of the last century, some scholars have defined urban expansion as an inefficient urban expansion process from the perspective of urban land use efficiency [4,5], and they formed a definition of urban expansion with a "pessimistic" color [6,7].…”

Aspects of calculating the spatial and temporal characteristics of land use conflicts in the region [15].
