Background: Efforts made to calculate the logistics costs in Indonesia, at the macro level, are facing various problems, due to the fact that there have been no national agreements—to any models employed—to calculate those costs. Moreover, limited data and information due to the lack of use of such integrated information technology to reduce the information asymmetry on the logistics processes and activities have created some additional problems. Objective: This study is aimed at reviewing the measurement model, of the logistics costs used in Indonesia, at the macro level. Method: It provides a potential measurement approach proposed by several previous studies as an alternative option that may help develop the existing models by elaborating on their limitations. Results: The results of this study emphasize the recognition of the components of the logistics costs and the formulation of a more accurate, transparent, and comprehensive measurement framework to improve the standard used to assess the logistics costs. Conclusion: Thus, the calculation output of the logistics costs is expected to be able to provide stakeholders with reliable information to develop an efficient logistics system. Furthermore, logistics costs will be more controllable, allowing Indonesia to achieve such comparative advantages.

Purpose This study aims to shed light on defining precisely variables of logistics costs model in Indonesia’s cement projects and generally other projects scientifically. The variables have previously so far been identified based on pragmatism and practical experience without rigorous scientific and empirical findings. The models are deeply awaited by every project practitioner, especially project controllers, in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach Data for the period 2010–2018 of eight cement projects were taken in quarterly and tested with a statistical tool EVIEWS10 to develop a robust proposed model. Investigating models were done by literature studies and empirical studies, and the results had been examined by statistical tests to be determined as robust or not-robust models. The certain period taken due to the availability data of the cement projects in which after 2018 was unavailable because the cement product is overcapacity in Indonesia. Findings The model proposed is resulted by synthesizing logistics literature and empirical from the cement projects in which the model consists of foreign logistics costs, domestic manufacture, and domestic logistics costs as the best findings to develop logistics model for the cement projects with a-10 independent variable. It significantly found the variable of foreign logistics costs have taken higher portions in the model, and therefore must be prior carefully anticipated. Practical implications To guide investors to alert with several important variables of logistics in Indonesia. As education that to invest in Indonesia, the best logistics model must prior be known to anticipate further uncertainty. Originality/value This study is advanced applied research of logistics models developed by author for future possibility implementation in the sector beyond cement projects.

This research aims to prove that wide gap between theories and practices in terms of acquisition that should be positive to drive performance of the acquirer but the distinctive things happened in Indonesia was not according to the preliminary design planned. The failure acquisition of Semen Indonesia (SMGR) over Holcim Indonesia (SMCB) in 2018 due to what had been done during excessive capacity should be priority to strengthen interns than acting to intervene outside. This study elaborates a case study, mixed-type research, and presents by explanatory design. It comes to find that acquisition during excess capacity is a failure step taken by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Many corporate steps are taken to a polish performance of the SMCB-acquiree but so far failing and endangering the whole performance. To compensate and withhold the climb-down due to oversupply, the management engineering of market intervention had been done. Big portions of market’s regions previously belong to SMGR had been handed over to SMCB to help increase its performance. The forced switching to polishing SBI’s performance is hurting all of the holding’s members. SBI enjoys improving market but at the same time endangers the performance of the whole groups of holdings. This research contributes to updating the present development of recent corporate actions of popular merger and acquisition are both previously labeled as the best corporate strategy for decades.
