Assessing the role of social network interventions with an inner-city population.

Abstract: This study assesses an experimental network intervention program conducted in a single-room-occupancy hotel. The relatively low percentage of successful interventions indicated that such procedures must be used cautiously but may be valuable if attention is paid to the types of problems and their immediacy, client characteristics, client education, and the building of trust.

It is not clear why marital status attenuated the relationships of ACEs (except for sexual abuse) with unemployment more differently among women than that among men.…”

“…Family therapists also are increasingly aware of the role of social support in maintaining healthy families. They advocate the need to include the family's social support systems in the therapeutic process (Cohen & Adler, 1986;Lewis, Lewis, Daniels, & D'Andrea, 1998). Lee, Oh, and Mountcastle (1992) stress the importance of natural support networks or kinship influences in counseling families from a non-Western background.…”
