R oads in the rural areas are important to rural communities' social, economic and political growth in Nigeria. Such roads allow connection to, among others, market places, educational institutions, health facilities, farms, and other rural areas. Normally, poor roads have unwanted effects not only on produce from agricultural activities but also on the social and economic status of rural dwellers, as economy of the rural areas depends largely on the farmer (Ikejiofor and Ali, 2014). Omollo (2015) and Mathew (2014) pointed that lack of access in rural communities also slows the spread of new techniques and practices, raises the cost of production and marketing distribution, reduces communication levels and restraints access to school attendance and medical care. It also restricts flexibility and makes alienation worse (Nduati, 2017).Abstract | Rural roads are crucial to the socio-economic development of the rural population. Nonetheless, in Nigeria, the state of rural roads is pitiable, as the development, enhancement and provision of more rural transport systems could be a panacea for the prolonged deplorable and worsening state of rural roads in the country. This study examined the perceived effects of rural transportation systems on farmers' income in Ondo State, Nigeria. A structured interview was used in eliciting information from 120 farmers in rural communities across the two local governments in the study area using a two-stage random sampling technique. Data used for the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as chi-square and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The study revealed that farmers perceived the quality of transportation system causes a reduction in their income. Gender (χ 2 =6.472) and marital status (χ 2 =9.745) positively influenced income generated by farmers at p<0.05. Also, there was a significant relationship between transportation systems used (r=0.705, p<0.05), perceived effects of rural transportation (r=0.267, p<0.05), and income generated by the farmers on farming activities. Based on the results of the study, it could be inferred that improved transport systems would enable farmers to work harder to increase productivity and reduce poverty in rural areas. The study recommended the development of motorable roads with sufficient infrastructure and the establishment of an agency or board capable of monitoring rural infrastructure, in particular, transport infrastructure to promote easy movement and improve the provision of medical services in the area.

This paper examines the relationship between public policy and education management in Indonesia by looking at various indicators influencing the public policy and the education management. For education management, factors like education achievement at elementary & higher school, college enrolment, job market in both local and international levels and social development are observed. Public policy is studied through work force development, higher education, brain drain, public safety, constitutional convention, job approval, legislature and operation policies. To examine this association, a survey questionnaire is developed and presented on various respondents regarding public policy and education management. A sample of 327 respondents is empirically examined and it is observed that the effect of work force development on elementary school achievement was significant while the effect of brain drains, job approval and legislature were crucial for the presented indicators of education management. Further studies can be conducted while considering other aspects of both public policy and education.

Olumirin waterfall tourism is a recognized location in Nigeria and enlisted one of the natural tourisms which attracts both local and foreign visitors. In spite the fact that Olumirin waterfall is one of the tourist centres in the country, there is no visible social activities that can transform the rural community. It is in the light of this gap. that this study seeks to assess the benefits that would be attracted to the host community, if the waterfall is turned to a resource. This study therefore, seeks to assess the benefits of Erin-Ijesa waterfall as a natural tourist centre in the host community as well agent of socio-cultural change. This study adopted survey cross sectional research design. The survey was descriptive in nature and aimed at capturing primary data. The sample size for this study consisted of 385 respondents. Structured questionnaire and in-depth interview guide were utilized to elicit both quantitative and qualitative data. Data collected were analyzed using percentages and inferential statistics were also used to test the hypotheses. All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The chi square results however revealed that there was a significant relationship between years of residence and the impact of tourism on host community [r(391)= 0.162, p < 0.05]. This was such that the higher the years of residence in the community, the more the people tends to perceive tourism as having positive impact on the community. This negated the formulated hypothesis 1 and it was rejected. Also, the respondents affirmed that the presence of Olumirin waterfall has contributed to the acknowledgement of the cultural practice in the community with X 2 value of 139.048, df of 4 and a p value that was less than .05, the variances in the frequency distributions were significant. This implied that Olumirin waterfall has created higher values for the cultural features in Erin-Ijesa community. This negated the formulated hypothesis 2 and it was rejected. The study concluded that Olumirin waterfall tourism initiatives contributed significantly to social life of the local community. However, to sustain the contributions of this tourism initiatives to Erin-Ijesa rural community therefore, it was recommended that, there is need for State government and private individual to invest more on Olumirin waterfall so as to make it attractive to tourists and this will influence the social life of the community.
