This paper reviews Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in Civil Engineering applications. Three FRP types are used in Structural Engineering: FRP profiles for new construction, FRP rebars and FRP strengthening systems. Basic materials (fibres and resins), manufacturing processes and material properties are discussed. The focus of the paper is on all-FRP new-build structures and their joints. All-FRP structures use pultruded FRP profiles. Their connections and joints use bolting, bonding or a combination of both. For plate-to-pate connections, effects of geometry, fibre direction, type and rate of loading, bolt torque and bolt hole clearance, and washers on failure modes and strength are reviewed. FRP beam-columns joints are also reviewed. The joints are divided into five categories: web cleated, web and flange cleated, high strength, plate bolted and box profile joints. The effect of both static and cyclic loading on joints is studied. The joints’ failure modes are also discussed.

The objective of this article is to increase the efficiency of face recognition in the aspect of a dynamic frame. Studies were carried out that focus on maintaining the high detection rate as well as increasing the accuracy. The study was conducted by considering the current recording of the dynamic frame of randomly selected people walking on a treadmill. Here, the variety of facial features was studied and extracted using different viewing angles on the subject. The existence of a huge amount of datasets and economical processing power is subject to value enhancement in the presence of a convolutional neural network (CNN) on different object identification and realization criteria. These methodologies with excellent knowledge of deep learning techniques that subjects to enhance the potential of the machine to learn the face values. CNN is capable to identify faces, positive positioning facial benchmarks, estimating postures and understanding faces in interconnected images and dynamic video frames.In this article, we present a novel phase detector technique that is rapid and has the potential of recognizing faces with huge changes. This is performed by a technique of using adopted CNN and recurrent neural network's subpart long-short term memory technique in a particular way so that the objective of bringing improvement in the reorganization procedure can be fulfilled.

An approach for assessing the value of a structural health monitoring (SHM) system for a bridge prior to deployment has been developed. The methodology systematically obtains the views of three key stakeholders in bridge SHM management: the asset owner, the structural engineer and the SHM engineer. The output of the methodology is a numerical value that indicates the approximate likelihood of a SHM system generating value for an asset owner. This paper applies this framework to two structures which span the River Thames in Central London, UK. The first structure is a 434 m long concrete, two-way road and footbridge, with a superstructure primarily comprising a concrete deck and two reinforced concrete box girders. In 2017, the bridge was the subject of a year-long monitoring programme which collected thermal and movement data to help refine structural models and inform maintenance repairs. The second structure consists of a pair of cable-stayed footbridges which are built on either side of an existing rail bridge. Each bridge deck is 300 m in length and is suspended from steel rods known as deck stays, made up of over 4 km of cable. Initially, there were no prior notions about what system should be implemented, but after discussions with the asset owner, a system to monitor the tension in the cables is considered. From the resulting discussions, the retrospective application of the framework resulted in a value-rating (VR) of 3.8, whilst the second structure received a rating of 3.4. A detailed discussion on value monitoring from industry experts is presented.
