Assessing the Possibility of Presenting a Semi-Stochastic Speed-Density Function

Abstract: Abstract. Underlying a fundamental diagram is a relation between traffic speed and density which roughly corresponds to drivers' speed choices under varying car-following distances. Stochastic and deterministic models are mainly two different categories of speed-density models. The advantages of deterministic models are their mathematical simplicity and analytical tractability though their results will show just the average parameters. Although the stochastic models may represent more accurate results taking u… Show more

“…Detecting fatigue in public transport drivers using biometrics is a difficulty, but it may be achieved using certain technology and methodologies. It is crucial to take into account the privacy and legal framework of the person and guarantee that such research is carried out in an ethical and lawful manner [24]. The following outlines the approach used in the driver tiredness study to explore potential biometric identification: facial recognition, iris scanning, electroencephalogram (EEG), heart rate monitoring, thermographic cameras, general data evaluations, data processing and interpretation, privacy, and legal regulation [25].…”

“…The intersection can be regulated, at such intersections the order of passage prevails. Unregulated intersections increase the human factor error, so it is important to ensure an understandable perception of the environment, good visibility, road marking and placement of signs [45].…”

“…By taking a wide look at the importance of vehicles length specially in urban roads where traffic stream is much more complicated (Maghrour Zefreh et al, 2016), a traffic survey has been done by the means of manual observation method in order to find the average vehicles length in two-lane urban roads of Budapest and consequently calibrating the effective vehicles length in the investigation area manually. Having the effective vehicles length calibrated manually, the average speed of the traffic stream can be easily estimated by the outputs of the single loop detectors.…”
