“…The highest concentrations of the spores of Aspergillus were recorded in January, similarly to those of Penicillium spp. It is possible that the spores of the two fungi species have been transported into the underground shafts with air currents or brought in by humans and animals, and they were subsequently developing on dead or live organic matter, e.g., on faeces [6] or on hay that is collected by bears before hibernation [3].
