Assessing Sustainable Ecotourism Opportunities in Western Rajasthan, India, through Advanced Geospatial Technologies

Abstract: The present study focuses on finding potential sites for ecotourism development using GIS and remote-sensing-based weightage sum overlay techniques in Western Rajasthan, India. Ecotourism is one of the fastest growing and revenue-making sectors incorporating a sustainable future. Western Rajasthan has a broad scope to develop tourism-based activity in various ways, mainly through cultural heritage, historical and archaeological wonders, and rare wildlife. Weightage sum overlay analysis is a useful and simple t… Show more

“…Chl-a = (B5 × B4) × 100Chl-a = (B4 × B5) × 100 (1) This computation aims to leverage the spectral properties of Sentinel-2 bands related to chlorophyll absorption and reflectance in water bodies [22]. The resulting Chl-a values were then normalized to the range of 0 to 100 using the clamp function to enhance the interpretability of the data [23].…”

“…AI and ML can be used to analyze large amounts of geospatial data more quickly and accurately than manual methods. These applications include prediction of infrastructure damage, real-time monitoring of changes in structural conditions, and optimization of resource allocation ( Chandel et al, 2023). The integration of AI in geospatial technology not only increases the speed and efficiency of data processing but also helps in making more informed and predictive decisions in project management.…”

“…Geoheritage refers to geological characteristics and processes that influence the development of the earth throughout millions of years (Németh, 2023). Combining ecotourism principles with the understanding and conservation of geoheritage offers a great opportunity to promote sustainable tourism practices while protecting our geological wealth (Chandel et al, 2023;Zhang et al, 2023). Investigation of geoheritage sites is a recent undertaking in the field of tourist research (Drinia et al, 2023).…”
