“…Similarly, ATZ did not affect the survival of larval Acris blanchardi and Osteopilus septentrionalis (Ehrsam et al, 2016; Hoskins & Boone, 2018) but caused retarded growth in larval Anaxyrus americanus , Rhinella arenarum, Lithobates clamitans, Ambystoma maculatum , and Ambystoma texanum (Rohr & McCoy, 2010). In contrast, treatment of larval Bufo bufo gargarizan (Sai et al, 2015), R. arenarum (Svartz et al, 2012), Silurana tropicalis (Saka et al, 2018), Xenopus laevis (Chen et al, 2015; Rimayi et al, 2018) to ATZ resulted in mortality and increased growth rate in larval Hyla chrysoscelis, Ambystoma barbouri, Ambystoma macrodactylum , and A. tigrinum (Rohr & McCoy, 2010). Retarded growth of anuran tadpoles caused by ATZ could be due to changes in the secretion of CRH in the hypothalamus, which in turn, increases the secretion of ACTH and ultimately glucocorticoids (corticosterone in amphibians).…”
