Abstract:The magnificent chemodiversity of terpenoid natural products is largely rooted in two types of terpene synthases: prenyltransferases and cyclases. The unusual diterpene (C20) synthase, (+)‐copalyl diphosphate synthase from fungal Penicilliumspecies (PvCPS, PfCPS),is the first bifunctional terpene synthase identified with both prenyltransferase and class II cyclase activities in a single polypeptide chain. The C‐terminal prenyltransferase α‐domain generates the C20 linear isoprenoid, geranylgeranyl diphosphate,… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
