Aspiration of a portion of endotracheal tube following patient bite upon recovery from general anaesthesia in a dog

Abstract: A Labrador Retriever underwent elective general anaesthesia for pinnectomy. The anaesthetic was uneventful until the recovery period where the dog rapidly regained consciousness and bit through the endotracheal tube, aspirating the distal portion. The dog was re‐anaesthetised and the tracheal foreign body was successfully removed with endoscopic guidance. The dog made a full and unremarkable recovery from anaesthesia.
