Abstract

This article deals with the managerial aspects related to computerisation of healthcare organisations. It was compiled based on a review of the literature, mostly from the last eight years. It aimed to analyse in detail the features influenced by managers of healthcare organisations. Its goal is to increase the awareness of healthcare institutions about the whole spectrum of circumstances related to the computerisation of their subordinate units. The article pointed out the benefits that should be obtained as a result of properly implemented computerisation. Barriers that need to be overcome were described and success factors that challenge managers were identified. Conclusions indicate the need for further research in the development of models to support computerisation in healthcare organisations.
